According to the latest calculations made by our best scientists 99.9999999999999 percent of the physical universe is made up of empty space …. but for 99.9999999999999 of humanity this is of no interest …. I am not sure which is the most worrying fact. (Okay, I admit I made up the latter whereas the former is taken from page 3 of “The Quantum Zoo: A Tourist’s Guide to the Neverending Universe” written by my favourite science writer Marcus Chown). However it does feel that the huge majority of our fellow human beings are totally unaware of the facts behind the “reality” that they believe in so tenaciously is, to all intents and purposes, not at all what they believe it to be ….
