I have just started reading “The Conscious Universe : Part and Whole in Modern Physical Theory” by Robert Nadeau and Menas Kafatos. This book is published by Springer-Verlag, Just to confirm that Springer-Verlag are a well-renowned academic publisher. I am reading this after working my way through their other book, “The Non-Local Universe : The New Physics and Matters of the Mind”. This was published by Oxford University Press (another publisher not know for their sympathy towards pseudo-science and new-age woo-wooism). So what are these books about? In short they are dealing with the overpowering scientific evidence that the universe is “non-local” and that consciousness is central to this developing model of “reality”. Yet again this is proof that for the last decade or so quantum physicists are moving into two camps …. those who deny in any way the implications of quantum physics with regards to the comfortable, materialist-reductionist model and those who are willing to think deeply about what nature is actually telling us and to suggest new models of understanding that suggest that the materialist-reductionist model is not the whole truth and that reality is far odder … and far more fascinating than the one taught by the grand-masters of “scientism”. Nadeau and Kafatos are in the latter camp and share similar views to Goldenblum and Kuttner, David Bohm and F. David Peat. These books are exceptional and quite demanding … but well worth the read …. and will give you a huge arsenal of information to meet the proselytisers of Scientism head-on…..
