Those of you who have attended my lectures and talks focusing in on the science of “Cheating the Ferryman” over the last two decades will know that the implications of the double slit experiment with regards to the observer (measurement)-influenced collapse of the wave function is absolutely central. In simple terms I have argued that what we perceive as physical reality external to ourselves is “rendered” from data drawn up from the “Implicate Order” and made “explicate” by consciousness (as proposed originally by Professor David Bohm).
By “consciousness” I mean the “observer” in its various iterations of refinement as described in the epilogue of my 2022 book “Cheating the Ferryman (Eidolonic, Daemonic, Uberdaemonic and Godaemonic).
But the major issue with this was the size of the “particles” created by the collapse of the wave function. Initially experimentally being photons and electrons and latterly atoms and molecules. The argument was that wave-particle duality was only part of the quantum world (the Microverse) and had nothing to do with the world of physically visible objects or systems (The Macroverse).
In my lectures I pointed out that large molecules such as Buckminsterfullerene (C60) aka “buckyballs”) with 60 atoms show wave-particle duality but even these are very small at 1 nanometre in diameter. The smallest virus is 20 times larger (20 nanometres). A nanometre is one billionth of a metre. I have argued that this size difference suggests that quantum duality could affect virus structure …… and viruses have a profound effect on living systems such as a human brain. But even so critics of my analysis of this have stated that my arguments are pseudoscience and woo-woo nonsense.
But the discovery below lends weight to my interpretation …… so maybe not so pseudoscientific and woo-woo after all?
I suspect that the “single quantum state” referenced in the posting is a Bose-Einstein condensate. As some of you may recall, I refer specifically to Bose-Einstein condensates in this respect in my lectures presented over the last twenty years or so.
