For many years I have said that the movie “Vanilla Sky” is an astounding (and totally unintentional) application of my ITLAD “hypothesis” …..
Of course it is also evidence of a “weltgeist” whereby writers and film-makers subconsciously, and in a profoundly Jungian way, are subliminally aware that there are deeper truths regarding the mind-matter interface and that these truths are something we are all deeply aware of … an awareness that rarely break through in the rush a…nd bustle of everyday life. But in those quiet moments of reflection as we watch a beautiful sunset, see light reflecting of a pool of water or in those moments before we go to sleep we know that there is something more about life than simply a birth and death between two nothings ….. and it is this which has fuelled all my writings ….
In this regard here is a reminder of the final sequence of “Vanilla Sky” ….. watch this sequence and then re-read the final two chapters of ITLAD ……. “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGuR4GOV5L0” ….here the central character experiences a “panoramic life review” as he falls and, in doing so, sees all his life flash by him only to hit the ground …. and wake up ……
How can we EVER know that this is all not a dream …. that life is just a series of embedded dreams in which a myriad of lives are experienced? After all, the ONLY truth you know is what your senses tell you …. nothing more. You NEVER actually interface directly with “out there” (the phenomonal world) because your senses “interpret” “out there” and present a facsimile to “consciousness” which, in turn, has no physical reality in itself in that it has no mass, velocity, impenetrability, spatial extension or location. So, in effect, nothing is processing something, but as far as the nothing is concerned the something is a mind-created hallucination …… and these are the ONLY things you really know ……
