If I was forced to say what is my favourite song of all time, and one that sums up my philosophy of life, and indeed what motivates my writings, it must be the song “Deja Vu” by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young written by the great David Crosby, who moved into another re-run of his Bohmian IMAX yesterday.
For the last 15 years, the ring tone on my phone is the first minute of this wonderful song on a continual loop ……. a subtle reference and reminder to me of the “Eternal Return” as evidenced by the universal feeling of “deja vu.”……
Furthermore, in my collection of over 2,000 musical albums the most featured individual as a solo artist, and member of various bands is the writer and main singer of Deja Vu. His music has been the background to my life ever since I first heard his voice way back the late 1960s.
End of an era……. and one of the suppliers of the soundtrack of my life has moved on…….
“If I had ever been here before
I would probably know, just what to do
Don’t you?
And I feel like I’ve been here before.
Feel like I’ve been here before.
And you know, it makes me wonder …….”
A song that sums up “Cheating the Ferryman” …….. and if CTF is correct then a one day-old David Van Cortlandt Crosby is enjoying the Los Angeles sunshine of August 15th 1941 all over again ….. and his Daemon already knows “just what to do.” …..
