In this recording author Anthony Peake reads his contributory chapter to the 2012 book “Making Sense of Near-Death Experiences: A Handbook For Clinicians” (Jessica Kingsley Publishers) edited by Dr Mahendra Perera, Dr Karuppiah Jagadheesan and Anthony Peake.
Entitled “Light and Near-Death Experiences”, this chapter discusses in detail the research of consultant psychologist Dr Engelbert Winkler and consultant neurologist Dr Dirk Proeckl with regards to their development of the “Hypnagogic Light Experience” (“Lucia”) and why this machine may be opening doors to a new understanding of the mind-body relationship. He then goes on to discuss the role of the pineal gland as a “reality modulator” facilitated by internally-generated DMT. It must be stressed that this chapter was written in 2010/2011 and shows a fair degree of prescience with regards to the recent growing interest in DMT, consciousness and holographic simulation theories: areas that are now immensely popular. Anthony finishes the reading with a brief discussion on where his work has developed over the last 15 years. He references the 2024 movie “Das Licht”, written and directed by Tom Tykwer, who had previously directed the amazing movie “Cloud Atlas” and the cult film “Run Lola Run” (which has has its central theme the “eternal return”, I theme Anthony Peake has written about extensively). “The main “character” of “Das Licht” is a “Lucia” device.
