In the epilogue of my 11th book, Cheating the Ferryman (2022) I proposed a model of reality I called the Tetrad which consists of my concepts of the Eidolon, Daemon, Uber-Daemon and GoDaemon as a hierarchy of consciousness.

This proposes that we are, in effect, all emanations of a singular consciousness (the GoDaemon) which is the consciousness that is responsible for the collapse of the universal wave function from a statistical possibility to an actuality. This consciousness experiences itself subjectively through the UberDaemon (equivalent of Jung’s “Collective Unconscious”), the Daemon (the “Higher Self” that experiences multiple lives) and the Eidolon (the consciousness that lives one life).

Although, unlike me, Alan did not do the science of the his model, he similarly concluded that “God” (for want of a better term …. maybe “GoDaemon”? ;)) is using us all to experience all possible experiences. His model is fascinating, but he misses one crucial point: in order to experience life properly they must be in a state of forgetting who they really are ….. what the Ancient Greeks called “Amnesias”. In this way all experiences will be “experienced as if for the first time irrespective of how many lives have been lived.

In my hypothesis the Eidolon remembers just one life (this one), the Daemon remembers ALL previous lives experienced by its various Eidolons, the UberDaemon remembers ALL lives of ALL human beings (or maybe all the lives of all sentient creatures) throughout time and the GoDaemon knows everything. But at each level of perception there is different “memory” awareness.

Interestingly, this is the central theme of Philip K Dick’s 1981 novel “The Divine Invasion” where the character Manny (Emmanuel) is “God” in human form ……. but he has forgotten that he is God. I cannot help but think that Phil must have been influenced by Alan Watts in writing this book.

Of course, I have to also reference here the famous monologue by the great stand-up comedian Bill Hicks (1961 – 1994) in which he states “we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively”. I suspect that Bill was also influenced by Watts.

This is, in effect, what Danny Rubin ‘s character Phil Connors does in the 1993 movie Groundhog Day. Connors, by living the same day over and over again, and remembering (unlike all the other characters) what he experienced the day before he is an Eidolon who has access to the memories of his Daemon. He is, in effect, in a state of anamnesis.

Now back to the reason for this posting. An hour ago, in my Instagram feed was a posting by “Theperfectmanifestor” featuring a recording of the very Alan Watts lecture I needed! I have attached a link below.

I genuinely believe that this model of reality is something we all subliminally know to be correct. For some reason Alan Watts, Philip K. Dick, Danny Rubin and myself (and hundreds of other thinkers and philosophers from the past including the writers of the Vedantist scriptures) have received a glimpse through the veil of amnesis through a momentary state of anamnesis (literally “the loss of forgetting”).

I fully acknowledge the ideas of Watts, Dick, Hicks, Rubin et al …….. but I genuinely believe I am the ONLY writer who has attempted to pull together the science, philosophy and phenomenology of this model of reality to explain how it facilitates many, if not all, altered-states of consciousness (such as NDEs, OBEs, DMT trips etc) and can explain deja vu, precognition, past-life memories and many other mysteries.

Of course, in the final analysis, it is not me who decides whether I make my case, it is you, my readers who will decide.
