"Your Life is about to Change." I heard this in my head as I was walking on a sidewalk one hot summer's day. Without thinking, I asked, "What do you mean by that?" and the voice said, "You are about to be hit by a vehicle." I stopped and looked 360' around myself. There was a 7 lane road next to me. I imagined a car flying through the air and landing on me. It seemed clear. I continued walking, now paying complete attention to everything around me.
I approached a driveway that crossed over the sidewalk. There was a man in a truck who was 6 feet back from the sidewalk writing on a clip board. Watching him like a hawk, I crossed the driveway. When I got right in front of the truck (but about 10 feet away), the man tossed the clipboard down and moved forward without ever looking up. I leaped out of the way and barely cleared the truck.
If I hadn't been on high alert, I'm sure I would have been run over. My life would have changed forever, it seems. It could have been bad. That was one of the luckiest days of my life.
