An Announcement.

Postby Anthony Peake » Thu Feb 09, 2012 7:37 pm

A few years ago a handful of fellow writers, at different times and under differing circumstances warned me that I was being stupid to allow myself to be so approachable. They warned me that should I become successful enough to be "noticed" as they termed it, I would find that attacks on me, both with regards to my credibility as a writer and as a human being, would increase and that these attackers would use the places where I can be visibly undermined as their prefered location of warfare. They further warned that these attacks, once started, would not stop but would increase in levels of vitrol and nastiness that it would destroy me.

It seems that this warning has come true. Ever since the numbers on this Forum increased to over a thousand personal attacks on me have increased markedly. It is as if a little bell has been rung in the "Troll Cave" and they have been informed that they can attack. Since then I have received negative emails, antagonistic messages on Facebook and personally insulting private messages here on this Forum. We have also seen a series of curious postings on here and, even more mysterious, individuals joining the Forum only to make a negative leaving announcement. Clearly something is afoot.

I really am not willing to allow this Forum to be destroyed by negative comments that really are not contributing to open debate but are simply attacks on me and my motivations.

I am therefore announcing that I will be closing this Forum in 14 days time. I really have not got the time or the energy to engage with these individuals and I feel that rather than allow a slow and painful demise of what promised to be, at least in my opinion, one of the most interesting forums on the web.

My apologies and thanks for call those who have contributed to make this Forum a great adventure. Please feel free to take off what material is important to you.

My Best Wishes

Tony

Dear Tony:

It has been a fascinating adventure here ...

No worries ... no doubt other great adventures lie ahead, as well.

Reflecting back, it seems arriving here had a place of some importance in my own timeline, in my own thinking and reflecting processes; in some kind of odd synchronistic way, or was it "synchrondipity"; it gave me a chance to bring forth things I was otherwise unaware of; connections were made, at times; other things, at times, getting undone.

I will remember fondly the time of being part of this Forum.

All the very best to you.

Cam

NB: I'll ponder a bit if there's anything I might like to save from here; yet, I don't really feel an attachment to any of it; besides, it's all been lost to me before.

Hmmm ... enough pondering ... my prior message sent as well ...

Kindly, Tony, delete my account and postings if you would.

Once more, all the very best !

Hi Cam,

I hope that we will stay in touch via email. You have been a fantastic contributor to this site and a great supporter of my work. I would hate to lose touch.

I will wait until the 14 days are up and then will simply close the account down. I hope that I will be able to save the full account somewhere for posterity .... and if anybody comes back to me wanting a transcript of their contributions....

Best Wishes

Tony

Tony: The decision is yours, but I do not feel it is fair to you. Why accept defeat? Besides, it is become vicious on Facebook and on Amazon - are you to close down things there as well? I do not feel comfortable about the accusations against you and I on Amazon, and I at least will not allow myself to be attacked professionally there.

Tony, take a time-out by all means. But do not delete all these years of our hard work and community. Seriously? You cannot allow this to happen.

Sorry to see this has been happening, just as I'm back and once again able to contribute regularly.

Remember - A negative judgment is more satisfying than praise provided it smacks of jealousy!

Also, Tony, this is not what anyone would advise, who had your best interests at heart. It will only make Amazon and Facebook the new venues of attack. I urge you to reconsider your decision to close here. The good outweighs the bad.

I make no apologies, by the way, for alerting you to the professional defamation occurring on Amazon. It makes us both look badly, and has hints of questionable activity on our parts, professionally. This is unacceptable to me, and should be for you as well. I for one will fight to protect my professional reputation. I am stunned at your reaction. Just stunned, and truly saddened. Instead of putting some administrative and legal boundaries to use, you would rather shut down the forum. This is not your best, Tony. And you know it. If you are angry at me for alerting you to something very serious being enacted on Amazon, then email me about it.

It is as if you reacted to my alert to you, by punishing me, and attempting to make it seem as though my Facebook post sent you into a fit. I know I did not mean to provoke this, and I know even more that I do not deserve it. I am walking away from this, in *tears*.

Tony: There may well be a lot of baggage on the Forum that is best jettisoned in any case; perhaps purge the files so to speak and start anew.

The dreadful off Forum antics of Karl Scrammel of Bolton ( at one time of Bolton at least ), a.k.a. Karl L LeMarcs or "The Dark Philosopher" on the Forum, warranted his Forum contributions and blog site postings being discarded long ago ... into the fire so to speak.

All in all Karl's schizophrenic dynamics seem to carry on, likely without recourse on his own, to stop such. But such are the trials he seems to be facing in this lifetime; such need not, however, spill over into yours or at least continue to do so if that indeed is what is transpiring.

All the best with your decision(s).

I feel that by closing the forum you are allowing the trolls to win. You are now in the public eye which means you are being successful at what you do, it is wise to now take steps to safeguard yourself and be ever vigilant. There is definitely a group of high level manipulators who control this planet and they will not allow the free flow of information to be given to the people. Anything that threatens to upset the status quo is not allowed.
Rupert Sheldrake was stabbed at a science symposium in the USA a couple of years ago. It looks like a psychotic one man attack but that is just their MO.
Nevertheless, we must show great fortitude in our quest for truth and knowing we are immortal should fill us all with courage to push on towards Mount Truth.
I do hope that you reverse the decision Tony I was planning to spend more time posting here in the coming months. I think the answer is to recruit moderators who will be able to man the boards and help you out. I would certainly volunteer to be a mod if it means keeping the forum open.

@Cam: I agree. Those problems which we ignore or attempt to minimize, will only grow larger and come back with a vengeance.

I appreciated your help at the time, and please know it. I felt you had reason and the ethics of reason on your side, and were not given credit for this. Karl Scramell now resides in Coventry, UK, and is the subject of 3 separate police investigations, outside of thefts or practices committed here. Someone else has been ruined by him, and has taken action.

In any case, I have done all I can here. If I try and alert Tony on Facebook re huge problems at Amazon, that he and I should work to solve a as two professionals, ----and he reacts by setting fire to his own house, so be it. I am not going to try anymore. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU SOLVE SOCIAL MEDIA PROBLEMS.
