when you say we are not one but some, are you refering to the myriad of personalities that we can take on depending on our feelings/vibration/mood ?...if so i agree, until we have resolved the dualities it will remain this way.

I find it puzzling that they have decided to put an actual human invented number on the count of souls that we all share. I think to put this as the starting principle would make any theory sound ridiculous, really. What would be the distribution principle, in such case? Say we are all sharing those 72 souls (although it amazes me how somebody was able to count them or, if he reached that number through matematical deduction, it would render it invalid, as mathematical deduction is also a human invention), how exactly does that happen? And how come, if we do share that consciousness or whatever they choose to define as soul, we lack shared memories or experiences? Or do they mean that the people we dream about and meet and interact with are the people we share the same pattern with? Then again, all of us interact with a different amount of people throughout our living existence, don't we?

Imagine how incredible would be, if it turns out that we all actually meet the exact same number of people in our lives. That would be spooky.

No I think we may be exactly that, 72 souls. therefore there are 8.8 million me at the moment. Also that as 'we' are unlikely to be killed all at once, i suggest 'we' are therefore immortal.

would any soul not be considered immortal ?
and if we are all ultimately part of all there is.... and their is no way all there is could exist without us, surely that would suggest that we are all part of one soul, like tiny fragments of it each looking at what it is from different perspectives ..

regarding the number 72 - only the name for that expression is human created. You can have 72 of anything.
quantities are already there, all we have done is describe them and name them, we didn't invent them!
The symbols (numbers) are the interpretation of the differences and ratios between 1 and 0. information in it's rawest state.
everything is information. numbers are the framework of reality. whether they existed before, or are a product of reality is debatable
but we didn't invent them!

I disagree. I think it's the human understanding which needs to put things into 'quantities' and thus has invented the word and the numbers. I don't think you can argue that quantities are already there, as it is us who 'perceive' the world into quantities, because this is how our brains operate.

I'm inclined to be swayed towards the idea that the whole world is part of one whole soul, if you are indeed talking about energy or matter, but it just puzzles me that they would put a number on that. What is also the difference between the 72 different souls? How do they not increase or decrease? Etc, etc.

i have often wondered why jehovas witnesses believe that only 144,000 will get into heaven, surely by now they have a full quota so why do they still knock my door on a sunday morning..... are they fully aware that i may just take their place ??

A friend of mine once converted to be a JW. When i asked her about the 144,000 and whether she was going to be one she said that she would never be deemed worthy...so that's how they get around it.......nobody is every gonna be deemed pious enough...just like the sad buggers that got left behind in the rapture...even tho they gave away all their money wore hair shirts etc etc.....darn it just wasn't enough...now the guy who has all the money says he got it wrong and has rescheduled...all except the guy who made a fortune out of post-rapture pet -minding service prepaid for which there was no refund...))) nice one.....

I agree with Mike that these are labels we apply, and that quantities (grouping) are core elements of reality.

A perfect example is the starting point of me/not-me aka Two.
From there its a matter of continuing to break down the not me's.

I don't think you can argue that quantities are not there.
