AMAzing book. Written in the style of an autistic teenager, if you are not enthralled and hooked after 2-3 pages than there is seriously something wrong with you. I'll leave it at that. Empathy overload from our part for a character that cannot really reciprocate.

Flipnosis - Kevin Dutton - What an awesome book. Read it very quickly cover to cover. All about the art of persuasion, psychology and the things which allow some to shine where others fail. A bundle of examples of incredibly mind-blowing experiments used to illustrate some of the theories and ideas. A great section on what makes psychopaths tick and how they differ from me and you....or you. There is a lot to digest and would one would probably, actually definitely benefit from mutiple reads.

Read it in three days, wicked, even avoided going home so i could read some more!
My wife is reading it now and she hardly EVER reads!
Thankyou Martin for the heads up
My son read it in class last year. apparently

Curiously enough I also read this book in one sitting. Simply brilliant and it really gets across the world-view of somebody with autism. I feel that I should re-read it but I have such a back log of books now ....

I am nearly finished The Conscious Universe by Dean Radin he totally demolishes the claims of the sceptics that psi does not exist and proves it by showing you the empirical data from thousands of experiments.
He also said something that resonates with Tony's hypothesis, when mediums claim they are talking to the dead, it may well be that they are talking to them when they were alive in the past or future.
For me what this book once again demonstrates is Panpsychism One Mind rules all, everything outside of the self is just projection.
The first edition of this book was printed back in 1990 I am reading the latest updated version printed in 2009.

I just read it a month ago, and I couldn't remember who recommended it. It must have been Hurlyburly! I loved it, BTW.

I finally finished reading "Brightness Falls" A great book about Publishers and Stockbrokers in New York. It's written by the same author who wrote Bright Lights Big City which is also a great film starring Michael J Fox.

Just started reading Yes Man by Danny Wallace....

so far................ hysterical.

I recently started this book. I'm a couple of chapters in and already it's very ITLADian.
It's essentially about going back in time through the back of a pantry in a burger 'joint'.
there are some interesting 'rules' associated with the act of stepping through.
Interestingly, every time you go back you reset any changes you may have made to history.
You could go back and prevent somebody from being harmed, then when you come back the world would have changed ever so slightly to accommodate this
but if you or anybody else goes back, then the whole original outcome is reinstated.
What's also interesting is that, to anybody here who may be waiting, you are only ever gone for two minutes no matter how long you spend there.
The aim of the game for the protagonist is to save JFK from being shot by Oswald, and one of his pupils family from being killed by the pupils father.
The person who originally found the 'portal' has already proved that he could stop a young girl from losing the use of her legs in a shooting accident,
but in accordance with the laws thereof, she reverts to being wheelchair bound after the protagonist enters for the first time.

It's brilliantly written of course, and is written as an account of the events by the protagonist himself.

Hello! Sorry for my absence I was looking for the leftover pieces of my life! Still, good to be back! So what have I read lately?

Deepak Chopra - The book of secrets.

Maybe it was because the book resinated with me at the time but I consider this to be one of the best books written on the subject of, well, everything! Deepak's writing style is very beautiful and very easy to appreciate. I have become quite a fan of his since reading this and even exchanged a few words with him on twitter. I have to say though, videos I've seen of him debating with people in the more scientific community have disapointed me a bit. He doesn't argue very well and basically gets made to look a bit silly with certain others offering alternative views to his, but I think he seems to get a bit defensive and in the process people aren't willing to grasp his ideas. On paper, as a writer, I have tremendous respect for him. Maybe he's just tired of all the criticism and reacts before anything bad has even been said out of habbit? Either way, this book is absolutely brilliant and I'd recommend it to anybody

Currently reading 60 Years Later - coming thorugh the Rye

This is essentially a sequel to Catcher in the Rye (you may have heard of this book). But it's not written by Sallinger. It's writtern by John David California and is an examination of the relationship between Sallinger and his most famous character. Holden wakes up obvlivious to the fact that he's now an old man, he hears the sound of typewriter keys pounding away! I'm only a little way into it but It's nice to see the world's most famous character brought to life again. God darn it! Phonies!!
