Imagine if one day, we could all become awakended?

Consciousness is simply the biggest mystery known to humanity. What exactly does it mean to say "I am conscious"? How can inanimate matter and a jumble of chemicals bring forth thought and self-awareness? What creates the inner world of thoughts, motivations and fears? What exactly are dreams? what are memories and where are they stored? These are some of the many questions that have been the domain of philosophy for centuries but now a new science - known as consciousness studies - is attempting to give some answers. Taking into account the results of the latest research CTF/ITLAD makes some radical suggestions with regard to consciousness and memory. Are these reasonable?

What is the measure of responsibility when we, as a part of this Universal Consciousness, wakes up to realize itself as both a part of the Universe, and the Universe at the same time?

As a human, we are conditioned to see ourselves as separate from the world around us. It's an understandable observation given the primal nature of survival consciousness. Yet, it seems, we are evolving past survivalist thinking into deep self-realizations and introspection where we are not entirely separate from this Universe. Rather, we are a part of it. Experiencing it as one of it's many sub-conscious aspects.

As a part of a Universe as expansive and encompassing as the one of which we exist in, is it possible for us, as a part to realize the entirety of the whole? To see that Universal wave of consciousness as ourselves, and the part of us right now as a simple focus point of experience for that whole?

Is there an realization that takes us to this level?

There are no souls, only stories. I have witnessed a Copernican revolution of the self; a historical shift from the age of solipsism, when we were all at the centre of the universe - self-loving, self-loathing, self-absorbed - to an era of self-dispersion when ego is deemed constrictive.

The above quote comes from an old article on consciousness in the New Scientist which I enjoyed very much. None of it is new to the regulars here, but a pleasure to read.

"The Handbook to Higher Consciousness" by Ken Keyes, Jr.

"Most of us," said the cosmic humorist, "go through life not knowing what we want, but feeling darned sure this isn't it"
Over 99% of the people in the western world live on lower consciousness levels characterized by trying to find enough security, gender, pleasant sensations, ego rushes, prestige, money, power, and status. This endless struggle yields lives of constant resentment, worry, suspicion, anger, jealousy, shyness, and fear.

Everything people tell themselves they must do to be happy ends up yielding more frustration than joy. The more successful a person is in making money, collecting skills and possessions, developing exciting sexual relationships, acquiring knowledge and degrees, and achieving positions of status, power, and prestige, the less loving, peaceful, and contented he may find himself or herself.

And yet it is not these things in and of themselves that create an unhappy life. It is the internal mental addiction or desire for them that minute-by-minute keeps one from enjoying life. Addictions (or emotion-backed demands) bring fear of non-fulfillment; jealousy that someone may steal our source of fulfillment; anger when someone thwarts us; cynicism if constantly under supplied; paranoia if constantly threatened; boredom if we're making no progress toward satisfying our addictions; worry if we can't see a steady supply; anxiety if we're worried about being worried; and unhappiness when the outside world does not supply us with whatever it is we are addicted to. Since the nature of life is such that we win some and lose some, an addicted person has no chance of living a happy, loving, peaceful, conscious, wise, and effective life. And the addictive programming is not necessary to find and enjoy that which we prefer in life.

You are ready for growth into the happiness of higher consciousness when you realize the utter futility of trying to live a beautiful life by your efforts to rearrange or change the world of people and things outside of you to fit your addictions and desires. You will find you have only to rearrange your own personal, automatically programmed responses to life situations, most of which are childhood hang-ups.

As you work toward higher levels of consciousness, you will find that you have always had enough to be happy. It is the patterns in your head that make you unhappy, although you usually blame the people and conditions outside you for your unhappiness. Your journey into higher consciousness can enable you to be loving, peaceful, wise, and free of a constant barrage of unpleasant emotional feelings.

"As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter." - Max Planck

There is much to say about the nature of consciousness. A truly amazing substance in this Universe.

We know what we know as our knowing expands and unfolds. Our knowings are unique and not always explainable on certain levels as they immediately unfold, but seep in as the buffer of physically manifested time cooks them....
