Music teaser

Hi,

I posted about my music some time ago, and never came back. Life gets in the way sometimes, anyway, just thought I'd share a bit here to see what you think.

Your sounds are really nice...They do remind me of soundscapes in a way.

Here is one where I am doing the humming like I mentioned before...and my boyfriend has played all of the music, but there are no created binaural beats in it.

I don't think a therapist would use it, but it goes into other forms of meditation, and into dreaming. :)

I do really like your little songs though...it will be nice to hear the full length versions.

Hi, thanks for the response, I need to find that other thread and respond there as well. Yours sounds great too, the therapist thing was just a sideline really. I'm more interested in music that affects mind, only just experimenting with binaural at the moment. Am also experimenting with a few ideas of my own such as fractal reverberation, which has a very distinctive mind effect.

My first album will be released shortly, and there are full versions of a couple of those demo tracks on it, am also writing some music for a new film, as I like scary atmospheres as well.

I don't know, I think it's pretty cool that a therapist would like to use your music, and finds it helpful...I like the first track, and some of the others. I can tell you which when they have names. But I would like to hear the full versions when you have them complete...they would be good for meditating.

I am not sure what fractal reverberation is. Maybe my boyfriend knows though.

I am interested in sounds that effect the vibrational state, which is then noticed, by the mind.

Like this;
I have this thing that happens. When it begins, I feel agitated, and then sounds change...from there, it becomes this pressure in the sides of my head, not pain, just pressure...but if I touch with my hands the places where the pressure is, then it hurts...but if I press pretty hard, then the pressure goes away.
And then it moves along, and it becomes hard to see. Not like blackout, or seeing things...but difficult to focus. So if you were standing there next to me, I could see your face, but not be able to focus on the features.

There is more to it than that, like sometimes there becomes this humming in the front of my head, and some other things.

But my boyfriend, was able to create the exact blend of sounds, that triggered all of this to happen. It was the first time that there was something so specific, that we could see exactly what it was.

Now, he is altering it slowly, and by process of elimination, we can find out which exact blend of sounds moves me into this state.

People speak about binaural beats, but what we have noticed, is that we live in binaural beats. Stand between two running car engines, each with it's own sounds, and what htz is running through you?
Between a loud computer, and a fan...
Between a refridgerator, and a light fixture.

What happens in the body when the power goes out? For me, there is a huge sense of relief. My whole head and body just relax.

But anyways, where I am going with this, is that with binaural beats, instead of using them to entrain all of the time...I like to be able to hear them, and not go into them also.
It is much harder to do, but it is a very good exercise, because we are pretty continuously in binaural sounds.

Those are the kinds of things I work with, which is why I started doing the humming...

That is pretty cool too, that you do do different kinds of music. I would like to hear them when you have time to finish them.

Thanks, I'll probably put them on my site http://www.oomeflippinhead.com (full versions) when I have a bit of time. It is cool that the therapist uses the music, didn't want to sound like it was belittling it in anyway, it's just relaxation is the most basic effect I want to achieve.

I'm not even sure it's been done before, but basically the reflection of sound within a space normally stays fixed. When you clap in a room, the reverberation will be the same because the walls are fixed. Similarly if you made sounds in a cathedral there's a whole different kind of sound (much better, but still fixed). I've been experimenting with making the reverberation non fixed, ie it changes over time. We get a lot of mental clues about positioning from sound, what I'm trying to do is remove the mental clues to create a different sense of space. Hope that makes sense?

Me too, very much interested.

That is so strange, I have exactly the same thing !

I've never experimented with it, I put it down to physical symptoms of possibly eye strain, but it happens just after I wake up, or when I'm not concentrating on anything in particular, so I don't think it is.

There is more to it than that, like sometimes there becomes this humming in the front of my head, and some other things.

I haven't got the humming, but when recording I often hear voices, so much so I think my girlfriend has entered the room and is talking to me, but it's not. A little creepy, but fascinating.

But my boyfriend, was able to create the exact blend of sounds, that triggered all of this to happen. It was the first time that there was something so specific, that we could see exactly what it was.

Be very interested to hear more about this, with me it is totally random, but happening more frequently. Maybe it's our experiments with sound that are causing something? Certainly sounds like it if your boyfriend can recreate this with sound.

When tuning forks are placed together and one is struck, the other vibrates at the same frequency. It's the same for us, our brains match frequencies we hear. We have an alarm clock that buzzes at a certain frequency, don't know why it does, it's not the alarm. But that stops me from sleeping, so it's going to be thrown away soon. I too sense relief when the power goes out as well. I can't go to big electrical stores either because of the amount of equipment they have running at the same time.

But anyways, where I am going with this, is that with binaural beats, instead of using them to entrain all of the time...I like to be able to hear them, and not go into them also.It is much harder to do, but it is a very good exercise, because we are pretty continuously in binaural sounds.

Strange you should mention that, I've been experimenting with Gnaural and have to not get into them while I'm mixing the music. Quite often I find that the music begins to ebb and flow with some of the frequencies without me realising it.

I haven't done much of my own humming, but find listening to chants extremely pleasant either gregorian or buddhist seem to be best for me. Needless to say I've experimented with those too. At the moment I need to focus on getting this album finalised for release (which is a collection of different kinds of music). I'll probably put a freebie album download on my site (whose name now seems to be even more appropriate) ! :)

Thanks for your message, absolutely fascinating stuff.
