Really Excited!

Many people state that under periods of extreme stress - car accidents, being given bad news, falling etc that time seems to slow down and sometimes even stop. Others claim that in dream-states time seems to go much slower than in waking life. Have you experienced such things? Do you have an opinion as to what may bring this about? Record your experiences here and open up the debate on this fascinating element of human perception.

Really Excited!

Sometimes the really mundane things in life can give the utmost high. As many of you know I am a great fan of J.B. Priestley and, at the moment I am sitting in the Rare Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library (this place is like Fort Knox .... you know that you cannot even bring in a pen, only pencils allowed. No bags, no coats etc). I am ploughing through all of the letters that Priestley received after his appearance on the TV programme Monitor back in 1963. I have now read through about two hundred or so of these letters, many of them are absolutely fascinating but (literally) three minutes ago I came across the one I had really hoped to find. You will recall in ITLAD I quote an experience that took place in Dunraven Castle in South Wales. In this a young chambermaid experienced a "time reversal" effect. Unfortunately I do not have the page reference in ITLAD available to me at this moment (I am actually using the library wifi to post this message). I have been allowed to take a copy of the letter outlining this classic experience. I think of all the examples I give in ITLAD this one really is the strangest! - and now I know the name of the person who it happened to and where they lived in 1963. Of course the chance of tracing her is almost impossible and it is unlikely that she will still be alive, but it would have been great to discuss this with her in more detail!

Don't let that stop you!
If she was only 20-30 she'll be 70-80 now, You never know...
If it were me, I'd at least try. Sounds like a great adventure.
I found my daughter after 23 years looking!
